But what does Google have to say about website AI generated content? Currently Google's attitude is one of focusing on the quality of the content, rather than how that content is produced. Google says it rewards high quality content that demonstrates their preferred qualities of E-E-A-T: expertise, experience, authoritativeness and trustworthiness. However, the 2024 March core algorithm update seemed to penalise websites with AI content, and has treated AI content in the past as spam. Spammy behaviour is defined by Google as being a website uploading multiple low quality articles daily, when a website rents out part of its website for spam (site reputation abuse) and when somebody purchases a high ranking expired domain and then adds spammy content to the site of the newly live domain.
Google still continues to favor people-first content (content created for people and not for search engine rankings), websites that are providing great page experiences for their visitors, there is displayed evidence of the author's or expert's authentication, and of course, requiring high quality content. So yes, you can use AI generated content within your website, just keep an eye on it that it meets E-E-A-T.
