如何请求产品评论

Product reviews are pure gold for online sellers. A couple of sentences from a genuine customer can have more influence than what you say about a product. The spanner in the works though, is that it can be really difficult to get those all important product reviews. It can feel uncomfortable chasing customers to write a review, but the effort is well worth it.

Tips on Asking for Product Reviews

In an ideal world, customers would always leave product reviews after every purchase. But they don't, which is why you need to ask that they do. It's not all bad news though, as one study showed that 76% of customers who were asked for a review did provide one. We've put together a collection of tips on ways you could ask your customer to provide a product review:

  • make the review process simple - customers are unlikely to persist with leaving a product review if the process is long and clunky. 
  • personalise your request - use the customer's name and order information when asking for a product review. You want the customer to know that you value their support of your business and are actually interested to learn about their experiences so you can make required improvements.
  • ask at the right time - timing your product review request is important. Asking for a review in the order confirmation is practically useless as the customer doesn't have the product yet, and is likely to not remember your request. A follow up email two weeks later though, is more likely to receive a positive response resulting in a product review.
  • include a call to action - you need to make it clear what you would like your customer to do and where to do it. Providing a link to exactly where you would like the review completed, the product you would like reviewed and what feedback you would like is really important.
  • say thank you for feedback - once a customer has provided you with product feedback, it is common curtsey to thank them for it. Acknowledge their review and address their feedback personally, making sure you comment on what they have said.

Methods of Collecting Product Reviews

There are different ways you can ask customers to provide product reviews, such as:

  • having a feedback widget on your website
  • asking in social media posts
  • adding a thank you note in packages
  • sending post purchase emails
  • adding a review form to your website
  • following up with a phone call
  • sending a text
It's also important that you decide upon where you want to collect your reviews. Some owners prefer sending customers directly to their Google Business account to leave a review, while others want website reviews. You can also have a testimonials page or a page widget on your website where you can display all your reviews, just copy and paste.
